My first grade students seen to learn their subtraction facts at a much slower rate than addition facts. Subtraction tic-tac-toe is an engaging way for them to learn the facts with a friend. A little bit of healthy competition is good!
I think this is a great idea that can be recreated easily to practice all types of math facts. You could also take the same idea and make a larger grid, say 5x5, rather than 3x3. Game boards could also be differentiated for learners at different levels. I like this activity a lot, and think the kids will too!
